For foreign investors doing business in Qatar, professional PRO services are absolutely essential. What are PRO services exactly? Also known as Government Liaison Services, PRO services can involve obtaining relevant permits, applying for relevant visas and driving licenses, obtaining company licensing, and providing translation services.

Here are some of the PRO services on offer through Fusion Support Services:

  • Corporate Services: To set up and operate a business in Qatar, having the correct company licenses and approvals is essential. As your PRO experts, Fusion Support Services advises what licensing is required, handling all relevant applications, amendments, and renewals from start to finish.
  • Business Visas: Business visitors to Qatar require a business visa, to allow them to stay and work for up to 30 days (extendable up to three months). Fusion Support Services can help with the application for this visa, and its renewal, if needed.
  • Work Visas: For visitors looking to obtain a residency permit to stay and work in Qatar over a longer period of time, a work visa will assist on the pathway towards this. Fusion Support Services can provide assistance in lodging this visa, to then follow the process for a more permanent arrangement.
  • Family Visas: For many internationals, having their family visit or live with them in Qatar is vital. Fusion Support Services can assist in applying for a family visa to allow foreign workers to sponsor their family to relocate to Qatar with them, or have them come out to visit temporarily.

Frequently asked questions

1. Where can I find information about upcoming tenders in Qatar?

There are multiple sources where a company can identify current government tenders. This includes tender announcements in local newspapers.

However, to search online, you may find tender opportunities on the Qatar Development Bank website: https://bit.ly/2TRiWRF , and the Ministry of Finance Procurement Portal:https://bit.ly/2FJIZF5

2. How far in advance can i renew my residence permit?
It is possible to renew a Qatar ID (QID)/Residency Permit up to six months in advance of its expiry date. However, in most cases, companies shall wait until closer to the expiry date of QID prior to completing the renewal process.

Should your company require assistance with renewing your employees’ Qatar IDs, or other PRO and Visa Solutions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

3. Can I be a shareholder in another company whilst still working at my job?

Yes, you are permitted to be a shareholder and listed as an authorized signatory of a company in Qatar whilst holding a Qatar ID under another company. However, please note, that we would recommend that you check the terms outlined in your employment contract as to whether your employer permits it.

Furthermore, please note that, if you are an expatriate and wish to be added to the Establishment Card of the company in Qatar, you would first need to transfer your sponsorship to the company.

Without being listed on the Establishment Card of the company, you may face challenges in signing certain documentation.

For more information, please contact us here.

4. Is there an investment visa in place in Qatar?

Unlike some GCC Countries, currently, there is no “Investment Visa” available in Qatar. Each expatriate individual from outside of the GCC, must be sponsored in Qatar by a company, or a family member to obtain Residence in Qatar.

For those that are investing and establishing a company in Qatar, it is common that the company created would then hire the shareholder as an employee of the business, thereby allowing them to obtain their Residence In Qatar. Please note however, obtaining residence in Qatar can be challenging for certain nationalities, therefore, we would recommend contacting us first to provide insight on the process and considerations that you may face.

For more information, feel free to get in touch.

5. What are the office space requirements in Qatar?

For a Ministry of Commerce & Industry Limited Liability Company to obtain a Trade License in Qatar, the company must have and maintain a  lease on a fit for purpose office space in addition to providing the associated documents for the office, even if the company doesn’t intend to operate from the office. Unfortunately, virtual offices are not permitted. However, dependent upon the activities of the company, a serviced office space is often a suitable and cost effective solution to new companies.

Whilst Fusion Group Holding does not offer office space, we would be happy to introduce you to some of our preferred partners upon request.

6. Is there a companies house in Qatar?

Whilst there is not a Companies House in Qatar, locally established companies are required to obtain membership to the Qatar Chamber of Commerce. Some information on companies can be found in their Membership Directory.

When looking to conduct due diligence in Qatar on a client, agent or partner, we would recommend requesting their Commercial Registration & Establishment card to obtain the company details. Further to this, it is always beneficial to ask for references of companies that you can contact whom have a similar relationship to that which you are trying to achieve. Lastly, some companies find it useful to contact their home countries chamber of commerce/embassy to obtain on the ground information where appropriate.

7. Do you help individuals with their PRO services?

Fusion Support Services are licensed specialists that can provide ongoing PRO/Mandoob Services. In many cases, to conduct the work, we are required to be engaged formally by an individual’s employer. However, in certain circumstances, Fusion Support Services can assist an individual with their family based requirements. For more information about our PRO Services and how Fusion Support Services can assist, please contact us here.

8. What happens if I’ve been out of the country longer than 180 days?

Your Qatar ID will be automatically de-activated from the system, thus you would be no longer allowed to enter the State of Qatar on your QID. If this happens, there is an option to apply for a “return permit” to Qatar. If approved, a return permit would allow you to enter Qatar with the return permit and re-activate your QID.

However, if you choose to leave the QID de-activated, please note that this will still need to be cancelled by your employer/sponsor in order for the Qatar ID information to be removed from the Ministry system and employer records.

10. Are the number of visas a company is issued based on the office size?

Unlike other jurisdictions, there is no official relationship between the number of visas a company are allocated and the size of their office. Instead, a number of factors are taken into consideration including, but not limited to, the activities of the company, the size and requirements of contracts that they currently hold and the company’s history with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour & Social Affairs.
